Patch 1.4

Released with the Marvellous Mosaic Pack: higher settling costs for the largest islands, a smoother camera and interface, and hundreds of fixes.

A large mosaic set into a city square at dusk, with residents walking across it

Released

Patch 1.4 came out on 19 February 2026 together with the Marvellous Mosaic Pack, a cosmetic DLC. Its list of changes was the longest yet, most of it polish and fixes.

Highlights

  • A Silo keeps its bonus after a savegame is loaded again.
  • Escort quests work as they should.
  • Street range indicators no longer disappear.
  • The mouse no longer lags on PlayStation 5.

Changes

  • Extra-large islands cost more to settle than large ones. Three Latium islands that were filed under the wrong size now cost and pay land tax as they should.
  • The camera follows the unit or ship you jump to, and Tab cycles through your troops.
  • Traders take different routes instead of all sailing clockwise, and resolver units spread out through the city.
  • Trade routes show more than three goods in their overview and support ships with ten slots.
  • Tools that work on an area are limited to 80 by 80 tiles, for performance.

Fixes worth knowing

  • An Apiary counts its tiles correctly next to a Lavender Field.
  • no longer has a charcoal buff, which came by mistake: the specialist affects residences only.
  • Legendary specialists no longer apply their buff twice, once boosted and once not.
  • A Depot can no longer be copied beyond the building permits you have.
  • A Pig Farm placed without enough resources can be upgraded from planning mode.
  • Rivals build better roads and no longer settle islands they do not use.

Hotfix 1.4.1

  • Ray tracing is back on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X.
  • Aqueducts no longer claim that water cannot flow uphill where it can.
  • Resident quests always show their objectives.
  • Moving or deleting the walls of a cosmetic pack you do not own no longer desyncs a multiplayer game.
  • Disembarking all troops at once works again.
