Patch 1.3

The first big patch after release: fewer crashes and desyncs, crossplay back on Xbox, more items from pirate ships, and a long list of fixes.

Released

Patch 1.3 came out on all platforms on 16 December 2025, about a month after release. It concentrated on stability and on the many reports from the first weeks.

Highlights

  • Fewer crashes and stutters, among them in large battles of ships and land units, and when rivals held festivals.
  • Fewer desyncs in multiplayer. With all three platforms on the same version again, crossplay with Xbox returned.
  • The deities Ceres, Neptune and Mars no longer vanish from the religion menu.
  • Blueprints of farms and of buildings on mountain, river and marsh slots can be upgraded again.

Changes

  • Pirate ships drop more items when they are sunk.
  • Shrines can stand on plaza tiles.
  • New maps no longer miss islands, which changes the map seeds.
  • Building streets and paths works more smoothly.

Fixes worth knowing

  • Ruins can be repaired at once again.
  • An Aqueduct Cistern costs water supply, and gates show their building and upkeep costs.
  • Extra needs are no longer consumed before research unlocks them, and the research queue survives a change of research speed.
  • Unlocking a discovery through the Hall of Fame unlocks that discovery only, not the cluster around it.
  • Easy and medium rivals no longer settle every island of a session, and rivals defend better against invasions.
  • Ranged units defend themselves in melee, and land units no longer teleport while patrolling.
  • Many quests can be completed again, among them Tarragon's Troubles, In the Name of Venus and Ultima Ratio.
